the deluge of ideas; or, too much of a good thing

Hello, and welcome to “Writer’s Block: Stupid Edition,” where I have lots of works in progress and none of them are making any significant progress, because that would be too easy.

In one sense, AO3 being down is a good thing. It removes one source of distraction. Lord knows I have enough of those without it. (Best of luck to the volunteer staff, who will no doubt be in hell for the next two to four weeks.) “Excellent! Now I can work on my original stuff!” It’d be great if I could get my brain to behave, let alone settle on one to devote attention to. I have novels in my head that want to exist, but it’s not the clean kind of birth, where Athena sprang fully-formed from Zeus’s head. It’s more like giving birth to a small horde of chestbursters. Slowly.

Strange how having an open document is like plugging up the works.

(Oh hey, you know what else doesn’t help? Being a grad student. Forgot that’s something that zaps your time and brain power.)

About Me

Just an author with dreams of grandeur and a lot of hubris to spare. Occasionally, I’ll share news and talk about what’s on my mind. It’s almost like that’s what blogs are for.
